A problem-solving approach to the world of environmental compliance
Our Risk Assessment Compliance & Remediation Group does a combination of risk assessment, corporate compliance and litigation work relating to environmental issues, land cleanup and natural resource protection. We work on matters involving the removal of pollution from soil, ground water, sediment and surface water, as well as issues surrounding brownfield sites (areas with environmental contamination) intended for redevelopment. Our experienced remediation attorneys perform due diligence on environmental contamination issues and conduct environmental reviews of properties included in real estate transactions. The group regularly counsels clients on matters involving hazardous material cleanup, wetland conservation and endangered species concerns. We work in conjunction with the firm’s Corporate & Business Department and Real Estate Group—including the Land Use, Development and Engineering & Construction practices—to assist with real estate transactions that include environmentally sensitive or contaminated properties.
When conflicts arise, we have a capable and deeply experienced team of litigators to tackle any issues related to environmental remediation. We can also partner with the firm’s Litigation Group to represent clients in front of federal agencies and regulatory bodies, as well as in civil disputes related to contaminated areas or cleanup procedures.
