Well known at the California capitol, Alex Torres is a dynamic and highly trusted public policy advocate working with some of the most significant stakeholders in state policymaking circles through direct advocacy, political analysis and policy and legal research. Alex also has longstanding relationships within California’s business community and advocates for policies to foster a more competitive market with a focus on Bay Area economic hubs.

A native and lifelong Sacramentan within a family of public servants and political advocates, Alex adds unique depth to the firm’s historical knowledge of state and local government affairs. In advocating for such a wide swath of the state’s employers, Alex is involved in some of the most significant legislative fights at the capitol and add significant value to any policy priority.

Prior to joining Brownstein, Alex served as director of government relations for the Bay Area Council, which represents over 320 of the region’s largest employers. He was also previously senior director of government relations for Strategies 360 and as a member of the lobbying team at KP Public Affairs in Sacramento, representing clients focused on entertainment, housing and homelessness, health care, business issues and veterans’ issues. Alex also has significant political experience, providing public relations and media outreach for several campaigns and consulting on public affairs for Cal Expo and the California State Fair.
