He most recently served in a Senate-confirmed position as the Department of the Treasury’s assistant secretary for Legislative Affairs during President Trump’s first administration. Prior to that role, he served as a longtime aide and chief of staff to former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

Brian is also an effective advocate before the Department of the Treasury. At Treasury, Brian was involved in some of the most consequential policies of the Trump administration, from the implementation of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to Phase II of the administration’s coronavirus response. Prior, Brian served as chief of staff to Sen. McConnell, where he was responsible for guiding home-state priorities, bridging Sen. McConnell’s leadership and personal offices, and overseeing outside political activities. He also served for eight years in a variety of senior communications roles in Sen. McConnell’s leadership office. During the Bush administration, Brian served as chief speechwriter for the secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
