Ali Metzl represents private equity funds, other financial sponsors and their portfolio companies as well as entrepreneurs and business owners in a wide variety of business transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, follow-on investments, internal reorganizations, divestitures, minority investments, equity financings, corporate governance advice and management equity arrangements. Working with companies of various sizes across a range of industries, Ali has a particular focus on the consumer products industry with a substantial number of her clients being women-founded businesses and financial investors who share that investment thesis. Ali combines an unmatched attention to detail and responsiveness with a genuine enthusiasm for and understanding of her client’s needs. Previously, Ali was an associate in the corporate department of Kirkland & Ellis, LLP in New York.

Also focused on advancing the recruiting, retention and promotion of women and diverse attorneys and policy advisors, Ali founded and previously served as chair of the firm’s Committee on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity. She also founded and chaired the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. Under Ali’s leadership, the firm was recognized with Mansfield Certification for five consecutive years, received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for three consecutive years and was named as one of Seramount’s “Best Law Firms for Women” in 2019, 2020 and 2022.

Growth Equity Experience

  • We advised SA Hospitality Group, an owner and manager of upscale Italian restaurants, in its internal reorganization through a recapitalization and sale of a minority interest in a chain of restaurants.

  • We assisted Microbiome Labs, a dietary supplement manufacturer, to create a vertically integrated company from previously separate affiliates. Our representation included a debt financing, internal restructuring/reorganization, asset acquisition, and real estate acquisition.
