Brownstein and Farber Receive University Of Colorado Law School Alumni Awards

Norm Brownstein and Steve Farber, co-founders of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, this week received alumni awards from the University of Colorado Law School for significant contributions to the legal profession. Brownstein and Farber were honored March 9 with the William Lee Knous Award, the law school’s highest alumni honor.

The school’s 35th annual awards ceremony was held at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Other alumni honored at the event included Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), Chief Federal District Judge Marcia S. Krieger and Children’s Hospital Colorado Chief Administrative Officer Michelle Lucero. Law School Dean Phil Weiser presented the awards.

Brownstein and Farber founded the firm in 1968, along with fellow University of Colorado Law classmate Jack Hyatt. Now with 14 offices across the western U.S., plus Washington, DC and Atlantic City, the firm and its attorneys and policy professionals are consistently recognized for providing experienced multidisciplinary legal counsel as well as for philanthropic and pro bono efforts.

Brownstein, chairman of the board at the firm, is nationally recognized for his extensive experience in real estate law, commercial transactions and public policy advocacy. He is involved in many activities on behalf of the University of Colorado and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, serves as a director of National Jewish Health and a trustee of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, and is a past presidential appointee of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.

Farber, president of the firm, provides counsel on a wide range of corporate transactions involving partnership business, public and private business, acquisitions and mergers, real estate, and various contracts. He is founder and chairman of the board of the American Transplant Foundation, serves on the boards of the Anti-Defamation League, Children’s Diabetes Foundation, Race to Erase M.S. Foundation, the Children’s Hospital Foundation, Citywide Banks, Denver Health Foundation, Aurora Economic Development Corp. and Alliance for Choice in Education.
