Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that Brian R. Burns, who most recently served as executive director of federal affairs at Johnson & Johnson, will join the firm as counsel in the firm’s Government Relations Department and health care practice in Washington, D.C.
“Brian has worked for some of the biggest names in the health care industry,” said Marc Lampkin, Brownstein’s Government Relations Department chair. “His legal knowledge and government affairs experience will be a great asset to our health care clients looking for counsel on legislative strategy to achieve comprehensive policy objectives.”
Most recently, Burns served as executive director of federal affairs at Johnson & Johnson. There, he managed the company’s political action committee and grassroots activities, and staffed the company’s representative on the PhRMA Board of Directors. He also worked as a director of federal affairs at Johnson & Johnson, where he represented the company before Congress on issues related to tax, trade, biopharmaceuticals, the Medicare Part D program and the Central American Free Trade Agreement.
Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Burns worked in Washington doing government affairs for Roche, Warner Lambert and Ernst & Young. He graduated from George Mason University School of Law with a J.D. and Providence College with a B.A.
