David Meschke Joins New Legacy Charter School’s Board of Directors

August 05, 2022

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that David Meschke, a shareholder in its Denver office, has been appointed to the board of directors of the New Legacy Charter School. Located in Aurora, Colorado, New Legacy is a small charter school that provides a safe and personalized education connected to the real world. It serves high school students and is tailored to the unique needs of teen parents by serving pregnant and parenting high school-eligible students (male and female) and their children ages 0-5.

As part of his three-year term, Meschke will help the governing board in advancing the school’s mission and vision by providing strategic direction, conducting academic and financial oversight, and securing adequate resources. He will attend board meetings, join at least one of the board’s committees and participate at several school events.

Education and assisting youth have always been passions of Meschke, who volunteered at local Head Start programs while in college and spent two years as an AmeriCorps Community Service fellow assisting fourth and fifth grade classrooms. His pro bono practice includes representing children and teenagers in civil protection order cases.

“I was particularly struck by the uniqueness of the school’s two-generational model of education serving both teen mothers and fathers,” he said. “I also really enjoyed learning about the early childhood education component of the school. This is a hands-on board where I will be able to see noticeable difference.”
