Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that Daniel Stewart will be joining its State Government Relations team as a shareholder. Based in the firm’s Las Vegas office, Stewart will use his governmental, regulatory and constitutional law experience to serve the firm’s clients. Most recently he served as chief strategy officer for Gov. Steve Sisolak (D-NV).
“Daniel has worked hand-in-hand with Nevada’s elected leaders to provide strategic guidance for the state,” said Doug Friednash, chair of Brownstein’s State Government Relations Group. “He has a vast network across multiple state agencies that further expands the reach of the firm’s state government relations efforts. We’re thrilled to welcome Daniel to our bipartisan, bicameral team.”

I have seen up close why and how he has maintained such a sterling reputation amongst stakeholders, public servants and elected officials across the state and across the ideological and political spectrums. Prior to his work with Gov. Sisolak, Stewart was a partner at Hutchison & Steffen, PPLC where he focused his practice on corporate, gaming, election and administrative law, government relations and eminent domain. He also led the firm’s election, campaign and political law practice, as well as the firm’s administrative law practice in representing clients before government agencies, boards and commissions.

Stewart also served as chief counsel for former Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval (R-NV) where he provided legal counsel to Gov. Sandoval and senior staff. Before joining Gov. Sandoval as his chief counsel, Stewart represented many of Nevada’s elected leaders, including the governor, U.S. senator, lieutenant governor, attorney general and Nevada Republican Senate and Assembly caucuses. He served both the speaker of the Assembly and the majority leader as general counsel and chief policy advisor. Additionally, Stewart represented two presidential campaigns in Nevada as lead counsel.
Stewart received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School, his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University.
