An increased interest in agricultural tourism (“agritourism”). Tourists worldwide, including Central Coast urban dwellers, are yearning for meaningful farm experiences that extend beyond winetasting. Under this model, tourists and residents can participate in farming operations, sample local produce, learn about animal husbandry, and even spend the night on a working farm. These opportunities are a win-win for farmers who often struggle to stay competitive and support their families under current zoning rules that restrict public-facing activities on agriculturally zoned land.
