Alice Lugo, senior counsel in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Government Relations Department, has joined the board of directors of Ayuda. The nonprofit organization provides legal, social and language services to help low-income immigrants throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Throughout her two-year term, Lugo will work to strengthen and advance Ayuda’s efforts by providing governance, strategic oversight and general support. The organization is significant to Lugo, who launched her legal career there after graduating from law school.
“Ayuda helped develop me as a young lawyer right out of law school, and I’m excited to contribute to help advance this great organization’s efforts and mission,” she said. “I support advocating for immigrants and survivors of domestic violence through direct legal servicing in the D.C. metro area. Ayuda has dedicated professionals to help this vulnerable population navigate the justice and immigration systems to make our communities stronger.”
