John Broadbent, an associate in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Corporate & Business Department, has been appointed to the board of directors of No Barriers USA. No Barriers USA is a nonprofit organization co-founded by Erik Weihenmayer, the first climber with blindness to summit Mount Everest, that provides transformative programs and experiences that shift mindsets, create belonging and foster self-discovery to elevate individuals and their communities.
No Barriers USA will benefit from not only Broadbent’s legal and business expertise, but also the perspective he has gained in overcoming significant physical challenges and breaking educational and career barriers.
“I was born in a condition that left doctors predicting that I would not be able to walk or have any meaningful quality of life,” he said. “Yet, my childhood experiences in the outdoors showed me the boundless nature of my potential and fueled me to repeatedly accomplish what others never thought would be possible. It will be such an honor and a privilege to help this organization deliver this profound, life-changing impact on other folks, both with disabilities and without.”
