Michael Zehner Returns to Brownstein Construction Practice

June 13, 2024

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck welcomes Michael Zehner to the firm as a shareholder in the Denver office. Zehner will join the firm’s construction practice.

“Michael is a well-respected construction attorney and his background in the heavy civil construction industry gives him firsthand knowledge of many of the issues our clients face. We’re glad to have him back on the team here at Brownstein,” said Carrie Johnson, co-chair of Brownstein’s Litigation Department.

Zehner focuses his interests, both academic and professional, within the construction law field. He grew up working for his father’s heavy civil construction company, eventually filling a project management position where he participated in and directed work for large energy and infrastructure clients. This background and continued passion for the industry allow him to swiftly gain a firm, practical understanding of the underlying facts of construction disputes. Zehner brings a strong skill set of drafting agreements, motions, briefs and pleadings to his litigation practice, while his extensive contract drafting, review and management experience benefit clients for the life of their construction projects. He is the 2024 chair of the Colorado Contractors Association’s Associates Council and teaches a graduate course on legal aspects of construction at the University of Colorado’s College of Engineering & Applied Science in Boulder.

Zehner received his bachelor’s degree and his law degree from the University of Colorado.
