Brownstein Names Nicole Ament and David Cohen New Members of the Firm’s Executive Committee

June 03, 2024

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck announces Shareholders Nicole Ament and David Cohen as new members of its Executive Committee (EC) joining the firm’s current EC members: Managing Partner Rich Benenson and Shareholders Gino Maurelli, Al Mottur, Angela Otto and Elizabeth Paulsen. The EC guides the firm’s strategic direction. Ament and Cohen replace term-limited Shareholders Adam Agron and Scott Slater, both of whom had a significant impact on the firm through their various leadership roles.

“It’s an honor to welcome Nicole and David to the Executive Committee. Their leadership and strategic vision will benefit the firm, our clients and our communities,” said Benenson. “Both Nicole and David are longtime leaders within the firm, and I look forward to working with them as they provide strategic guidance to help shape Brownstein’s future. I also want to share my absolute appreciation of Adam and Scott’s service to the firm during their time on the Executive Committee and through their other leadership roles.”

Ament brings 25 years of experience to her work for clients in the real estate industry and has spent the last four years as chair of Brownstein’s Real Estate Department. Focusing on land use, development, financing and disposition, she spearheads transactions featuring complex portfolios and large single assets. Ament draws on diverse experience navigating complicated development and land use issues, to ensure her clients across the nation—from hotels and health care facilities to ski resorts and fitness clubs—maximize opportunities. Previously, she served as the chair of the firm’s Hospitality, Resort & Recreation industry group and, in 2018, was named one of Bisnow’s Denver Power Women for having a significant impact on the business and commercial real estate industries, and helping propel cities and communities forward.

Cohen combines a legal and government relations practice to navigate sophisticated oversight, regulatory and advocacy matters at the intersection of business and government. A former tech executive, senior agency official and congressional staffer, Cohen develops business-minded solutions to clients’ pressing issues in highly regulated and politicized industries, including financial services, data privacy, cyber security, homeland security and emerging technologies. Before returning to Brownstein, Cohen served as chief administrative officer for CLEAR, a leading biometric technology company. He also served as chief of staff to three U.S. Customs Service commissioners and currently serves on the board of the Mizel Institute and the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab.
