Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that M. Evan Corcoran has joined the firm as a shareholder in the Litigation Department. He will be based in the Washington, D.C., office.
“Evan will bolster our already nationally recognized Litigation team and since he knows the administration’s decisionmakers, he can interface with agencies to get results,” said Adam Bult, co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Department. “I look forward to seeing Evan expand our civil and white collar practice.”
Corcoran represents clients in white collar criminal matters and complex civil litigation. Over the course of his career, he has defended high-profile public figures in historic legal matters involving intense international scrutiny. His notable clients include a former president of the United States; a former top U.S. Department of Justice official in civil proceedings focused on his official acts; and the first senior presidential advisor ever indicted for contempt of Congress. Over three decades, his representations have involved historic legal questions of first impression. Corcoran possesses extensive expertise in managing and litigating large, complex civil cases for corporate clients in highly regulated industries.
“You can find Evan at the intersection of law and politics and that’s why he’s an excellent fit for Brownstein,” said Rich Benenson, Brownstein’s managing partner. “This hire is an important piece of our long-term strategy to marry our legal and lobbying practices.”
Previously, Corcoran served as a managing director of a public global investment company, which managed hedge funds with diversified investments. He also worked as an assistant U.S. attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., where he led investigations and prosecutions of hundreds of felony cases, tried over 30 jury trials and presented 20 appellate oral arguments. He began his career in the U.S. House of Representatives as an assistant to the ranking subcommittee member of the Appropriations Committee.
“Brownstein is number one when it comes to achieving success for clients on federal matters. It is an honor to join the team as they develop innovative solutions to the evolving legal landscape that accompanies President Trump’s second term,” said Corcoran.
Will Moschella, co-chair of the firm’s Government Relations Department added, “Evan is an exceptional lawyer and outstanding addition to our team as we continue to help our clients navigate the new administration.”
Corcoran earned his B.A. from Princeton University and his J.D. from Georgetown Law.
